After that, this weaving art was spread out to Surendranagar district of Gujarat, India. At present, this weaving is being practiced in 10 talukas of Surendranagar and two communities – Dangasiya & Shepherd are involved in Tangaliya weaving.

A primary technique of Tangaliya weaving is similar to other handwoven products such as to prepare warping, to prepare reel for the weft to fit in the shuttle of the loom. Normally, a Pit loom is used with two shafts and two paddles. Originally, wool was used in weaving to manufacture shawl, but later, an artisan had to use cotton & silk yarns as demand for other products such as women’s garments & home furnishings. This weaving differs from other Indian weaving techniques and it is its – Dots. There is extra weft used to create dots. Dots weave with another color of weft by artisan’s hand to create its unique designs. Tiny dots of extra weft are twisted giving an effect just like bead embroidery. The intricate method of twisting the extra weft, while weaving is going on. Through this, motifs are woven into the fabric, while it is still on the loom. In this way, Tangaliya weaving is made exclusively of attractive looks. In Tangaliya weaving, there are traditional motifs such as Parrot, Trees, Flowers…etc normally used in the product.
